Detachment

I can now agree to the popular saying that ‘A book has the power to change your life’. I never was an enthusiastic reader, but the book that I am reading currently is something I will cherish my entire life. I, as a reader, feel emotionally attached to the story and characters.

The story itself is very powerful, and every next page that you come across takes you to an emotional ride. How some pages leave you astounded to the extent that you need to stop right there, sit down and let the words immerse into your soul.

“But detachment doesn’t mean you don’t let the experience penetrate you. On the contrary, you let it penetrate you fully. That’s how you are able to leave it.”

I found deep meaning in these words, being on a journey of introspection, I found out that I’m never able to leave things, my attachment to particular things is sooo much that it can actually turn into obsession.

This is the one reason that weighs me down. I am not so strong to let things go. I forgive easily. I always end up giving second and third and fourth and fifth chances to those people who don’t even deserve them. It’s me who let them enter into my life and ruin it all over again! I am at fault here.

“But by throwing yourself into these emotions, by allowing yourself to dive in, all the way, over your head even, you experience them fully and completely. You know what pain is. You know what love is. You know what grief is.

I have very well experienced every emotion out of these. I know what it feels like to love someone, and to watch that love make you blind! I have experienced love turning into hatred, all precious bonds breaking down, I have experienced the true pain of loosing something precious.

There is always a time. Even if you keep crying for days and nights, you won’t be able to get certain things back. It’s all about experiences. Some things stay with you for a season, you need to cherish them as much as you can in that moment, love them fully, but do not expect them to stay with you forever. Everything comes to an end eventually.

It’s all about experiences. Every person that comes into your life teaches you something. Figure that out. Learn that lesson and move on. Never let those emotions hold you down. Rise above the attachments. Stay detached. Keep shining!

  1. Detachment is necessary,if we attach ourselves to everything,we will be in ruins one day.Religious books teach this too, stay detached. It is hard but imperative! I will read this book too.And Chandani, whatever it is,whoever it is that you have lost, just let it go and remember it with a smile, never let love turn into hatred.Let the love stay but dont let it blind you or stop you from moving forward in life. All the best my dear.😊
